Pair: Telegraphist J. Davison, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, who was killed in action when H.M. Drifter Clover Bank was sunk in the Straits of Dover on 15 February 1918

John Davison, a civilian clerk from Gateshead, co. Durham, was born on 9 April 1898 and joined the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve on 17 October 1916. Promoted Telegraphist on 19 October 1917, he served in H.M. Drifter Clover Bank from 1 January 1918, and was killed in action when Clover Bank was sunk by enemy action in the Straits of Dover on 15 February 1918, one of seven hired Drifters lost in that action. He is commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial.
