Candida Louise, Marchioness of Tweeddale was born in Cantiano, Italy, in 1854, and married Lord William Montague Hay, the younger son of the 8th Marquess of Tweeddale, on 18 May 1878. Following the death of his elder brother, the 9th Marquess of Tweeddale, William Montague Hay became the 10th Marquess of Tweeddale on 29 December 1878, and Candida became the Marchioness of Tweeddale. She died in 1925.
