Charles John Williamson Daniell was born on 1 December 1885, the son of Lieutenant-Colonel Edward Daniell. Attesting for the Army Service Corps on 1 June 1915, he served during the Great War on the Western Front from 29 January 1916, and was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Army Service Corps on 18 December 1917. Posted to Iraq in 1918, he commanded No. 953 Motor Transport Company in Baghdad, was promoted acting Captain on 22 January 1920, and subsequently commanded the 10th Motor Ambulance Convoy in Iraq. He relinquished his commission on 26 March 1922, and was granted the rank of Captain. He was killed during the Second World War by a Flying Bomb in London in 1944.
