Miscellaneous, An old collection of clichés of British and European medals (53), including Louis XII, Henri II and III, Francis IV and Louis XIV of France, Dante Alghieri, Innocent XI, John Calvin, Charles II ‘Felicitas Britanniæ’, George I large portrait by Seelander, William IV of England Great Seal, Torquato Tasso, John and Cornelius de Wit, Francesco Petrarca, etc; struck medals (2) [55]. Varied state; housed in an old wooden cabinet £300-400

Provenance: The Cooper-Dean family, Bournemouth, and by acquisition.

Sold with a written label stating “These Antique Plaques have been on exhibition. I do not know their Value, also the bag & box of Medalic (sic) castings, which are a mystery to me. They were given me by Mrs Eva Victoria Cooper, my late wife’s Aunt”.

The clichés are believed to have been exhibited at Littledown House, the Cooper-Dean family seat built in the late 18th century, during the ownership by James Edward Cooper Dean, JP (1840-1921), who inherited the Dean estates in 1887
