Three: Captain H. S. Grimston, Wiltshire Regiment, who was killed in action at Reutel near Ypres on 23 October 1914

Horace Sylvester Grimston was born on 27 October 1891 at Newera Eliya, Ceylon, the son of Edward John and Toonie Clara Grimston of Ramboda, Ceylon, and was the great grandson of the 2nd Earl Verulam. He was educated at St. Edwards School, Clifton College and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. He was commissioned into the 2nd Battalion Wiltshire Regiment in April 1911, promoted to Lieutenant in March 1914 and advanced to Captain on the battlefield. On 23 October 1914 Captain Grimston was shot through the temple and killed instantly whilst on duty in the trenches at Reutel near Ypres. He was buried in the Buttes New British Cemetery, Polygon Wood, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
